| Samuel
Patterson (my great-great-great grandfather) established
The Berlin Fruit Box Company here in Ohio in 1858. He provided fruit
and vegetable baskets to local orchards and farms; the baskets were
handmade from wood, starting with logs harvested in nearby forests.
Of course, a lot has happened since then. Weve
endured the Civil War, the Great Depression and three major factory
fires. But some things never change. We proudly continue to serve
our basket customers, through six generations of continuous family
ownership and operation
and from the same site!
The Berlin Fruit Box Company is old and small. Truth
be known, we like it that way. My great-great-great grandfather
probably would have said Small is good for our customers
in many ways.
As
we approach our 150th anniversary, we remember Samuel Patterson
by placing his name on our exclusive collection of hardwood maple
decorative baskets. We isolated his signature from an old company
document and made it a part of each basket, signifying our promise
of outstanding value and personal service.
We hope youll like the baskets and accessories
offered in this little website,
and look forward to hearing from you!
